Tim Balaam
Partner
Tim’s analytical approach to claims has provided valued support to clients requiring expert advice in insurance litigation and personal injuries law.

Tim’s main focus is workers’ compensation, particularly common law damages claims. He has handled claims for the statutory insurer for over 30 years and for a major self-insurer for over 15 years.
Tim understands the necessity to investigate claims thoroughly in order to place himself in the best position to strongly advocate his client’s case at compulsory conference or mediation.
He provides clients with clear strategic advice, tempered by pragmatism, and is motivated to resolve claims expeditiously in order to limit damages and costs.
When it’s necessary to defend claims at trial, his success rate is extremely high. His latest successful defence of a claim at trial was in the pure psychiatric injury case of Potter v Gympie Regional Council [2022] QSC 9 which was upheld on appeal.
